Petition pushes for help to protect models’ health

TWO young models went to Downing Street yesterday to lobby for a law to make agencies take responsibility for the health of their models.

Rosie Nelson and Hayley Hasselhoff delivered a petition signed by more than 113,000 people who want to see young people protected from being pressured into becoming dangerously thin.

An inquiry into the issue is being held by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on body image, chaired by MP Caroline Nokes.

The campaign was developed by Ms Nelson, 23, who was told by a modelling agency that she had “potential” but needed to lose weight. When she did, the agency told her she needed to lose even more, until she was “down to the bone”.
