Penicillin doses too low for growing kids

PENICILLIN dosages may have to be increased because children are getting heavier, experts say.

Doses have remained unchanged in almost 50 years, based mainly on a child’s age. But today’s five to ten-year-olds are up to a fifth heavier than their 1963 counterparts, meaning recommended dosages may not be enough to tackle infections.
