Peers clash over reform of Lords

PEERS have clashed after being warned they were making themselves look “ludicrous” by opposing reform of the Lords.

Former Lib Dem leader Lord Ashdown said yesterday the Upper House was “out of touch” with democracy. But Labour’s Lord Grocott said the argument was moving in favour of those who believe an elected Lords would be “bad for our constitution”.
