Peer suspended over Obama claim

LABOUR peer Lord Ahmed has been suspended while the party investigates reports that he offered a £10 million “bounty” for the capture of US president Barack Obama. He was said to have called for the capture of Mr Obama and former president George Bush at a reception in Pakistan, in response to a US reward for a Pakistani radical.

Last night Lord Ahmed denied offering a bounty – but said he had told the meeting Mr Bush and Tony Blair should be prosecuted for war crimes.

A party spokeswoman said: “We have suspended Lord Ahmed pending investigation.”
