Paralympic Games: Sarah Storey ‘ready for Team GB’ says Victoria Pendleton

Olympic hero Victoria Pendleton says there is “no reason” why the top Paralympians should not compete alongside Team GB in Rio de Janeiro.

She said gold medallist Sarah Storey had proved herself.

Speaking at the GQ Men of the Year awards on Tuesday night, Pendleton said: “I think a lot of people don’t realise we train together. Someone like Sarah Storey, she competed for Team GB as an able-bodied athlete at the World Championships and in the Paralympics, and there’s no reason she couldn’t compete as part of the Olympic team.”

“She proved she can compete as a Paralympian and an able-bodied Olympian.”

Fellow cyclist Bradley Wiggins said the national reaction to the Paralympics had been “amazing”.
