Pan Am flop wins TV gong

The critically-panned flop Pan Am has picked up a major television prize months after it was axed amid falling audiences.

The BBC show, which followed the lives of air stewardesses in the 1960s, never really took off and was cancelled by ABC in America. However, it has now won the Golden Rose award for best series at the Rose d’Or Festival in Switzerland.

Other winners include comic Charlie Brooker, whose Channel 4 show Black Mirror: The National Anthem was named best comedy. Other C4 shows to win include Friday Night Dinner for best sitcom, and The Million Pound Drop Live, which was named best gameshow.
