“It helps them manage their vocals”, a source told the Daily Record.

“There’s little point rehearsing in an empty arena because it’s completely different when the venue is filled with people making noise. Adding screaming sounds is the only way to make the soundcheck realistic.

Fans overheard the high-pitched soundtrack in Cardiff, with some even claiming that the recording is played during shows to encourage the crowd.

One fan even took to Twitter to make the claims after attending a gig in Belfast, saying: “One Direction have a recording of girls screaming really loudly they play throughout the concert - heard it in soundcheck. Caught out.”
