Olympics terror suspect discharged

Charges against a terror suspect who allegedly breached restrictions imposed on him by taking trains through the Olympic Park were dropped yesterday.

The suspect, known only as CF, has been discharged and will face no further action, a spokeswoman for Westminster Magistrates Court said.

The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed the charges had been withdrawn.

The case sparked controversy during the run-up to the Olympics when shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper demanded to know whether the alleged incidents posed a threat to London 2012 safety and pointed the finger at watered-down government anti-terror measures.

Court papers showed that the 24-year-old was arrested and faced criminal proceedings after the train journeys.
