(Old) sofa, so good for charity's shops

A CHAIN of charity shops has seen its furniture sales soar as customers seek out older, more traditional items.

Sue Ryder Care says aged furniture is now the fifth annual bestseller in its shops, beaten only by womenswear and accessories, bric-a-brac and books. This year, 33 per cent of the charity's store turnover was generated through the sale of furniture and bric-a-brac.
