Ofcom waves off complaint about Arsene Wenger impersonation

BROADCAST watchdog Ofcom has dismissed complaints that TV host Gary Lineker’s behaviour was racially offensive when he impersonated the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger on a BBC Match Of The Day football highlights programme.

Lineker, 51, sparked anger when he mocked the French manager by waving his arms about and signing off a link with the words “If you don’t like it Mr Wenger… au revoir.”

The incident was prompted by the fact that Mr Wenger had waved his arms in frustration during a match.

Ofcom received 19 complaints, in April, but decided no investigation was required.
