Ocean colour scene: Google photographs Great Barrier Reef

NOT content with capturing images of the world through Google Earth and Street View, the internet giant is now taking its cameras under the sea to photograph the Great Barrier Reef.

An estimated 50,000 panoramic shots, taken in 360-degree high-definition detail, are be uploaded to Google’s Panoramio photo site.

The image will give visitors to the site an up-close glimpse of the world’s largest coral reef covering 900 islands and stretching for more than 1,600 miles.
