A Belfast cemetery has become the source of fierce international debate after the image of a bearded ‘Jesus’ was spotted in a newly-chopped tree stump.

A YouTube video has appeared online which has prompted many curious commentators to seek out the wooden wonder for themselves.

The video caption reads: “An image has appeared on a tree stump in Belfast’s City Cemetery. Upon close inspection, its hard to tell just how this image got there. Recently City Council employees trimmed trees in the cemetery, and as a result this phenomenon appeared.”

The alleged sighting is the latest in a spate of recent Christ spottings.

• Ealier this week a Texas pensioner was sure that Jesus had appeared in his breakfast Taco. It was reported that everyone at the La Amistad Adult Day Care believes Ernesto Garza’s discovery is a blessing and a message from god.

• John Canfield spotted Jesus on the underside of a crab while fishing in Washington, US, though many claimed the image more colsely resembled Osama Bin Laden.

• In North Carolina, Linda Lowe discovered a likeness of Christ on her grilled cheese sandwich. When her son tried to sell it on eBay the image wouldn’t upload, which Linda took as a sign. She now keeps the snack into sealed container.

• An Australian man sold his unwashed frying pan for $80 after the burned-in mustard bore a slight resemblance to Jesus.
