More dads take up role of child's main carer

THE number of fathers who give up work to look after their children soared tenfold in the past decade, research said today.

Around 6 per cent of fathers now consider themselves their child's primary carer, up from just 60,000 ten years ago, according to insurance giant Aviva. A further 18 per cent of couples said they shared the childcare responsibilities equally.
