Marr rules out Smiths’ revival

GUITARIST Johnny Marr has laughed off reports that he is set to link up with singer Morrissey to reform The Smiths, saying he has “got things to do” rather than rejoin his former bandmates.

He posted his response to a music.news.com report on his Facebook page saying: “Thanks to those with Hearts and Smarts. I don’t know where this stuff starts. Not from me. I got things to do. Johnny”.

The Smiths started in Manchester in 1982 and recorded a string of acclaimed albums and singles. They split in 1987 before the release of their last studio album, Strangeways Here We Come.

Former drummer Mike Joyce, who now works as a DJ in New York, added: “After reports of The Smiths reforming I can confirm that they are not.”
