Margaret Thatcher went on crash protein diet for election
LADY Thatcher went on a crash diet packed with protein ahead of her 1979 election win, newly-released files suggested today.
The programme, which included up to 28 eggs a week, promised to help the future Prime Minister shed 20lb in two weeks.
A note outlining the regime, which was released today along with thousands of Margaret Thatcher's personal papers, was found tucked inside a pocket diary.
