Man sought after woman killed in taxi

POLICE are hunting a man after a woman was stabbed to death in a taxi yesterday.

West Midlands Police said the taxi driver called emergency services after the attack in the Northfield area of Birmingham yesterday morning, but the woman could not be saved.

A force spokeswoman said a man ran from the scene of the incident, at the junction of Dimsdale Road and Hoggs Lane. Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a woman in a taxi who had suffered multiple serious injuries.

“A rapid response vehicle, an ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a doctor on board attended the scene.

“The woman was in traumatic cardiac arrest with multiple stab wounds. Despite the best efforts of all medics in attendance, nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed dead at the scene.”
