Man shot dead in car in Sheffield city centre

A YOUNG man has been shot dead and another injured as they sat in a car in a city centre.

The men, both 22, were shot in Derek Dooley Way, Sheffield, at around 10.15pm yesterday, South Yorkshire Police said.

They were taken to hospital but the passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead. The driver remains in hospital in a stable condition, police said.

Both men are from the Sheffield area. No-one has been arrested.

Two lanes of the Sheffield Parkway into the city centre were closed as police continued their inquiries.

Officers have urged anyone with information to contact police or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
