Man in court over Scots ex-soldier’s Edgbaston murder

A 27-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering a Scottish former soldier.

Troy Ktori was remanded in custody at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court alongside two other people accused of assisting an offender, West Midlands Police said.

Ktori, of Shenstone Road, Edgbaston, is alleged to have killed Charles McInally, who was found stabbed on Friday August 7.

The victim, originally from Scotland, was pronounced dead after emergency services attended a house in Brewers Square, Edgbaston.

The 55-year-old ex-serviceman, known as Chic to his family, spent eight years in 11 Signal Regiment.

In a statement issued on Friday, relatives of Mr McInally said: “Our family is deeply shocked and saddened at the untimely death of Chic.

“He had recently moved to Edgbaston. He had informed the family he was enjoying his work and was living in a nice area.

“We ask that the media respect our privacy at this time.”

Ktori, who was arrested in Ledbury, Herefordshire, earlier this week, has also been charged with attempted wounding and causing actual bodily harm.
