Look up Pompeii: Artefacts to go on display at British Museum

The British Museum yesterday unveiled a host of artefacts recovered from the destroyed Roman city of Pompeii which are to be put on display.

The items include a wall painting of the baker Terentius Neo and his wife; a carbonised wooden cradle; a bronze statue of a woman fastening her dress; and a gold bracelet. The exhibition, entitled ‘Life and Death in Pompeii and Herculaneum’, will open in March next year and will feature artefacts recovered from the remains of the cities which were destroyed in just 24 hours by the volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79.
