Libel fee changes 'dropped'

LEGISLATION to drive down fees charged by libel lawyers is "not going anywhere", said Commons Leader Harriet Harman.

It means the move, to reduce the fees of "no-win no-fee" lawyers, was effectively dropped by the Government just days after Justice Secretary Jack Straw said he was "hopeful" it could be passed before the election.
