Keane album tops the chart

KEANE shot straight to the top of the album charts last night with their new record Strangeland, the Official Charts Company said.

It is the band’s fifth consecutive number one album, after their first three – Hopes And Fears, Under The Iron Sea and Perfect Symmetry – and their 2010 EP, Night Train, all debuted at the top of the album chart.

Their latest release outsold its nearest competitor Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events by two copies to one.

The band’s five consecutive number one albums is a feat only ever surpassed by The Beatles.
