Kate will also join the Queen during a visit to Leicester on 8 March.

The Duke of Edinburgh is expected to accompany the Queen on the trip, which is one of a series of Diamond Jubilee visits around the UK.

Kate carried out her first solo public engagement last week when she visited the National Portrait Gallery, in central London, for a preview of a Lucian Freud show that gives a comprehensive overview of the late artist’s work.

Her husband William is in the Falkland Islands as part of his work as an RAF search and rescue co-pilot.
