Jude Law urges WTO to uphold seal fur ban

ACTOR Jude Law has written a letter calling for the EU-wide ban on seal fur to be upheld in a move he says would be “in line with the wishes of compassionate people all around the world”.

The actor sent the letter to the World Trade Organisation one week before its final hearing on the issue in Geneva and just days after the start of Canada’s annual seal pups slaughter. The Canadian government is challenging the EU ban as a last-ditch effort to revive the trade, but The Talented Mr Ripley star hopes its efforts will be blocked.

In his letter, Law said he will “always consider Britain home” and therefore felt “proud” that the EU had banned seal imports.
