James McAvoy anger at man recording Macbeth play

ACTOR James McAvoy halted a theatre performance in London on Sunday night to berate an audience member who was filming the production.

Glasgow-born McAvoy is playing the title role in the critically acclaimed production of Macbeth, at Trafalgar Studios, but brought proceedings to a standstill when he became aware of a man filming the play.

A statement released by the theatre said: “An audience member was caught filming by the actor James McAvoy.

“The filming disrupted the production of Macbeth, forcing James McAvoy to respond to the audience member by asking them to stop filming immediately.

“The production then continued as planned once the camera was put away.”

The 34-year-old actor, who will appear in the film version of the Irvine Welsh book Filth, is set to reprise his role as Charles Xavier in the latest installment of the X-Men franchise, due to begin filming after the run comes to an end.

It is the second time McAvoy has stopped ‘the Scottish play’ since the run began. In March, the actor abandoned the production to help an audience member who had collapsed, before resuming the play.
