Grammy Awards: Wacky outfits out in force

AS EVER, the Grammys offered plenty of sartorial misfires to command attention.

Easy targets include Kim Kardashian’s Liberace meets Joan Collins-esque Jean Paul Gaultier dressing gown and Madonna’s bum-lifting harness.

However, these two were dressed true to form, with outfits that fit their brands and will keep fans happy.In contrast, Rihanna’s huge and pink Giambattista Valli toilet roll cover of a dress was slightly out of character. It’s a look that was only pulled back from the brink by fresh-looking make-up and an underdone hair style.

Rita Ora’s restrictive long-sleeved, high-necked, all-over sequinned number was like something you would see on cruise ship singer Jane McDonald. Equally surprising was that bad girls of hip-hop Iggy Azalea and Nicki Minaj went for relatively grown-up looks, in revealing, but floor-length, gowns by Armani and Tom Ford respectively.

The same goes for Miley Cyrus, in a black cut-out frock by Alexandre Vauthier.

The wackiest outfits were worn by the lesser-known or more alternative stars, including US singer Joy Villa, who sported an orange dress and matching fascinator, both of which looked as if they had been attacked by a hole punch.
