IT may not have been scored in the most auspicious of arenas, but this goal by Stephanie Roche has been shortlisted by Fifa for a goal of the year award.

The goal, struck against Wexford Youths, is competing against strikes by Manchester United striker Robin van Persie and Real Madrid star James Rodriguez.

The winner of the Puskas Award will be announced on 12 January 2015.
