Glitterati step out at the White House

THE White House State Banquet was a star-studded affair, featuring the feted and famous from both sides of the Atlantic.

Possibly the biggest name on the guest list was Hollywood star George Clooney, but British actor Damian Lewis, currently appearing in the hit US series Homeland, and wife Helen McCrory, star of Hugo and the Harry Potter films, were also present.

The British-born American Vogue editor Anna Wintour also attended, as did Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy, currently ranked No1 in the world. Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville attended with his wife Lulu Williams.

Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson and Olympic heptathlon gold medallist Denise Lewis were also there.
