Fresh strike call over pension bill

The coalition government is on a fresh collision course with public sector workers over its pension reforms after civil servants and NHS staff called further industrial action.

The Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union and Unite said members would walk out on 10 May, the day after the Queen’s Speech, which is set to include a bill on pension changes.

This will start a series of actions, with another strike at the end of June and co-ordinated action across the civil service, health and education sectors. The dispute has been raging for well over a year and sparked a strike by more than 1.5 million public workers last November.
