Ford workers set for pensions strike

UNION leaders have warned of the first strike at car giant Ford since the 1970s, in a row over pensions.

Unite said yesterday it had walked out of negotiations with the company, claiming it was insisting on closing its pension scheme to new entrants. Officials said it would lead to the ultimate closure of the staff final salary pension scheme.
