Fiscal watchdog bites into Alistair Darling forecasts

A NEW fiscal watchdog was expected to set the scene for the emergency Budget by revealing today that Labour's last growth estimates on the economy were too optimistic.

The Office for Budget Responsibility was expected to downgrade former Labour Chancellor Alistair Darling's 2011 forecast from 3.25 per cent to 2.5 per cent.
