Fears grow for lakeside reveller

FEARS are growing for the safety of a 27-year-old reveller who was last seen near a lake, police said yesterday.

John Shailes was out with friends on Friday night at a pub in Taw Hill, near Swindon.

When he failed to return home, relatives became worried and told police his disappearance was “totally out of character”.

Officers in Wiltshire confirmed they were investigating the incident and were conducting searches in the Moulden lake area – where Shailes was last seen at 8pm on Friday.

He is described as white, approximately 5ft 10ins and of muscular build. He has blonde hair and was wearing shorts and training shoes.

Inspector Paul Hawkins urged anyone with information to contact Wiltshire Police.

He said: “We are very concerned for John’s welfare and are conducting searches in the area of Moulden lake. It is important that anyone who has seen John [since Friday] contacts us urgently.”

Those able to assist officers should contact Wiltshire Police via the 101 telephone number. People phoning outside the force area should dial 01380 735735.
