Explosive thrown at Derry police vehicle

The front of a police vehicle was badly damaged after an explosive was thrown at it in Northern Ireland.

Officers were conducting a search in the Creggan area of Londonderry on Saturday night when the “attempted murder” happened, the Police Service of Northern Ireland said.

No-one was injured during the attack. Stones were also thrown at police by youths.

Police appealed for anybody with information to come forward. A spokesman said: “Detectives in Strand Road are appealing for information following the attempted murder of police officers in the Creggan area of Derry yesterday evening.”
