Ex-rugby star Jonathan Davies arrested for ‘pub assault’

FORMER rugby star Jonathan Davies has been arrested for assault after a late-night incident outside a pub.

The BBC rugby pundit was arrested in Mumbles, Swansea, following a street disturbance last Sunday morning.

The father of three was arrested in the early hours of Sunday outside a pub after an incident involving another man.

He was cautioned by police for common assault and later released.

“A 49-year-old man was arrested and cautioned. Another man was arrested but released without further action,” a South Wales Police spokesman said.

Davies, who was made an MBE in 1996, is a regular BBC commentator on both rugby league and rugby union.

He won 37 caps at rugby union for Wales. He turned to rugby league in 1989, going on to represent both Great Britain and Wales, and was named player of the 1993-94 season, winning the RFL’s Man of Steel Award.

His final rugby league match was for Wales against England in the 1995 World Cup, which Wales lost.
