Ex-policeman ‘sold stories to Sun for £500’

A FORMER police sergeant has been charged with selling information to the Sun newspaper.

James Bowes, 30, from West Sussex, is accused of passing details of three high-profile investigations to the tabloid in 2010, in return for £500. He answered bail at a police station yesterday and was charged with misconduct in public office.

Alison Levitt, QC, principal legal adviser to the Director of Public Prosecutions, said: “We have concluded, following a careful review of the evidence, that James Bowes… should be charged with an offence of misconduct in public office.”
