Drug smuggler loses UK prison appeal

A BRITISH woman convicted of drug smuggling in Laos who returned to the UK to serve her sentence yesterday lost a challenge against her continued detention.

Judges said Samantha Orobator "was treated unjustly in Laos" but rejected her claim that she was being detained in the UK unlawfully. She must serve at least 18 months.
