DJ Neil Fox in court over alleged sex offences

He denies nine offences against the complainants, who were aged between 14 and 36 at the time of the alleged offences, which are said to have taken place between 1991 and 2014.

Fox - known as Dr Fox - appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, dressed in a dark blue suit, white shirt and blue patterned tie, and sat taking notes throughout the administrative hearing.

The court was told that three of the six women only came forward with their claims after being approached by the police.

Jonathan Caplan QC, said: “There are six complainants, three of them did not approach the police at all. In fact, the police approached three of the complainants.”

He raised the issue, asking for disclosure of the conversations that had taken place between detectives and these three women.

The court also heard that witnesses would be called to give evidence via videolink from Australia, and that the complainants would be giving evidence from behind screens.

At an earlier hearing, the court was told that Fox allegedly forced himself on a girl as young as 13, and attacked a teenager at a popular theme park.

The details of the allegations against the Magic presenter can be reported after Mr Caplan asked for restrictions to be lifted because of a “considerable amount of reporting” on social media that had led to the creation of prejudice.

One of the complainants alleges that Fox repeatedly assaulted her at Capital Radio’s studios in London’s Leicester Square.

Two other women claim to have been sexually touched by the radio presenter at Magic FM’s premises in Winsley Street in central London, between January 2003 and August 2014.

The prosecution argues that the complaints show a “consistent and determined pattern of sexual predatory behaviour”.

While making a DJ appearance at a motor show in Bromley, south-east London, in summer 1991, Fox allegedly assaulted two different girls. He is accused of forcing his tongue in to the mouth of a girl aged around 13 or 14 after she asked for a photo with him. he court heard that a second teenager was allegedly assaulted by Fox in a similar manner at the event, but she claims he also put his hand up her skirt.

A third youngster, under the age of 16, alleges that, while she was at Chessington World of Adventures in April 1996, she asked the DJ for a photo and a kiss.

Four of the alleged indecent assaults are said to have taken place at Capital Radio between January and December 2003.

It is alleged that on one occasion he put his arms around a woman and squeezed her breasts, regularly touched her bottom, and that one incident involved him simulating sex with the complainant.

During one of the alleged assaults at Magic FM, Fox is said to have walked up behind the complainant and kissed her shoulder. When asked what he was doing it is claimed he said “Oh, I just had to. You look as if you taste so good”.

He denies seven counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual touching without consent, against six female complainants between 1991 and 2014.

Fox, from Fulham, south-west London, was first arrested in September last year, then again in December and March.

Fox, who rose to fame presenting the chart show on Capital Radio, was a judge on Pop Idol between 2001 and 2003 alongside Simon Cowell, Pete Waterman and Nicki Chapman.

He also appeared as himself judging a superhero talent show in BBC Three sketch show The Wrong Door.

Fox who is is due to stand trial in front of a bench of magistrates on November 5, was released on unconditional bail.

Another pre-trial review is due to take place on October 2.
