Dead 12-year-old girl was strangled and stabbed

A YOUNG girl found murdered was strangled with a ligature and stabbed in the stomach.

Tia Rigg, 12, who was found dead at a house in the Cheetham Hill area of Manchester on Saturday, received "significant injuries".

A 37-year-old man arrested at the scene is being quizzed on suspicion of murder. Police have not commented on reports that he is her uncle.

No-one else was being sought in relation to the inquiry, said Greater Manchester Police.
