Court victory for right-to-die campaigner

A PARALYSED road accident victim has spoken of his joy at winning the right to continue the right-to-die campaign started by locked-in syndrome sufferer Tony Nicklinson.

The 57-year-old man, identified as L, is immobile except for limited movement in his right hand and has been suffering significant pain since the 1990 accident.

At London’s High Court on Wednesday, Lord Justice Elias allowed the divorced father-of-two to be added to an appeal lodged by Mr Nicklinson’s widow, Jane.

In a statement released by his lawyers, L said: “I hope that this is the next step towards the ultimate goal of changing this cruel law, which keeps people like me alive when I want to have a dignified death.”
