Cosmetic surgery patients ‘misinformed’ by sales team

Cosmetic surgery patients are being “dangerously” misinformed by sales people, leading plastic surgeons have warned.

Patients should only undergo consultations with the surgeon who is performing the operation – not sales people, the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (Baaps) said.

A poll of 70 Baaps surgeons found that 97 per cent had seen patients who had previously undergone a consultation with someone other than a surgeon and were misinformed about the surgery they wished to have.

“It is not surprising that patients seem wildly misinformed when their consultation is performed by someone other than the surgeon responsible for the procedure,” said Baaps president Rajiv Grover.
