Corbett collapses while celebrating CBE

RONNIE Corbett collapsed while celebrating his New Year Honour, the comedian’s wife has revealed.

The former Two Ronnies star was taken to hospital after being taken ill at his home in London, on New Year’s Day. He was then transferred to a private hospital, but was allowed home last week, his wife Anne said.

The veteran entertainer had been feeling weak on the day his CBE was announced last month, following a knee operation for which he was receiving medication. His wife said: “They think it was a combination of this and the fact he had not felt like eating very much recently which led to the problem.”

The couple had been enjoying a Chinese meal to mark the honour, which was in recognition of Corbett’s services to entertainment and charity.
