Clegg tries to find funding consensus

DEPUTY Prime Minister Nick Clegg will launch a new cross-party attempt to reach agreement on a system for funding politics but has ruled out any increase in the cost to the taxpayer.

An inquiry last year proposed a £10,000 cap on donations in a bid to end corruption allegations – partly paid for by a £23 million-a-year taxpayer subsidy.
