Children going hungry as parents face food bill rises
Around three-fifths of the poorest families in Scotland have had to cut the amount they spend on food in the last year, the research from Save the Children reveals.
Two large-scale surveys questioned both parents and children in cash-strapped households. Almost 40 per cent of parents in the worst-off families say they are stressed and constantly worry about how to make ends meet.

Hide AdAround a quarter of low-income parents frequently skip meals, and one in seven children in these families regularly do not get enough to eat.
In the face of rising food prices, about three-fifths of low-income parents have less than £30 a week to spend on food for their family, compared with a national average of £76.
