Case study: Broken home background but martial dreams fully intact

HER parents are divorced, but Sine Munro still believes that marriage is the surest route to happiness.

She said: "I got married to my husband Gavin last August and I have never been happier. I have never made the connection between my parents' divorce and my own marriage. It did not influence me at all.

"However, having seen what my parents went through, I really wanted to make sure that I found the right person. Gavin was the same."

The 32-year-old, from Inverness, had always wanted to get married but was waiting for "Mr Right" to come along.

"It was love at first sight," she said of her Edinburgh beau. "I met him on a quiet Wednesday evening in May.

"He was out with his work colleagues and I was out with a friend. We ended up in the same restaurant and the same pub later that night. We got talking and I knew it was something special straight away. We moved in with each other a week later and got engaged that October."

Both Gavin and Sine's parents are divorced and that has made them determined to make the marriage last.

"Gavin and I both come from broken homes and we will make sure the same thing does not happen to us," said Sine.

"We are determined not to make the same mistakes that our parents made."
