Careers service gets revamped

The government will today launch a new careers service, offering advice on learning and work to more than a million people.

Skills minister John Hayes said the service will transform careers advice by combining highly trained advisers with an interactive website.

Information will be offered to around 370,000 young people as well as face-to-face advice to 700,000 adults, as well as data on which industries are growing in different areas of the country.

Mr Hayes said: “With competition for jobs more fierce than ever, now is the time to introduce a careers service that will deliver on its promise.”
