Business fears as ‘pasty tax’ arrives

THE so-called “pasty tax” has come into force amid warnings that it could tip struggling businesses “over the brink”.

The Chancellor had planned a 20 per cent VAT on all hot baked goods, but later climbed down by exempting products that return to “ambient temperatures” on shelves.
