The Book Of Mormon musical sets sales record

NEW musical The Book Of Mormon has set a record for the biggest day of sales in West End and Broadway history.

The award-winning show, by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, had its official opening at London’s Prince Of Wales Theatre last Thursday.

The following day, between 10am and midnight, £2,107,972 was taken in ticket sales when an additional 150,000 tickets were made available.

Prince Of Wales Theatre owner Cameron Mackintosh said: “After a phenomenal opening night I am delighted to see a phenomenal record-breaking post-opening box office of over £2 million.

“The Mormons have truly delivered a heavenly hit.”

Producer Sonia Friedman said: “On behalf of everyone involved in The Book Of Mormon, we are bowled over to be setting this quite extraordinary record.”

The president of the Society Of London Theatre, Mark Rubinstein, said it was fantastic and congratulated the show for the record-breaking sales.
