Bolton comic hits ten million milestone

COMEDIAN Peter Kay has become the first British comedian to sell more than ten million copies of his DVDs.

The Bolton-born comic has notched up 10,291,624 total sales for The Tour That Didn’t Tour – Tour, and previous hits including Phoenix Nights and That Peter Kay Thing.

Kay, 38, said he was amazed to have enjoyed more DVD sales than Avatar and Mamma Mia! put together.

He joked: “It’s unbelievable to have sold so many DVDs. Funnily enough I’ve not got any of my own as my family take them all, although ironically I have got two copies of Avatar and three Mamma Mia!s.”

The star played to a record 1.2 million people during his most recent tour, becoming the biggest- and fastest-selling stand-up comedian in the world.
