Big losses tip fashion brand Aquascutum into administration

IT DRESSED the likes of Winston Churchill and the Queen Mother during its 160-year history.

But now luxury fashion brand Aquascutum – run by Scottish businesswoman Kim Winser for three years until a failed management buyout in 2009 – has fallen into the hands of administrators after suffering financial difficulties, putting 250 jobs at risk.

Joint administrator Geoff Rowley at FRP Advisory admitted the business had continued to make “significant losses” under current owner Henry Tillman, despite efforts to turn it around. “We are conscious of the value of the Aquascutum brand and its long-standing heritage, and because of this are keen to enter into early discussions with interested parties,” he said.
