Aslef wants more equality on railways

Train companies have been urged to recruit more women and ethnic minority workers as drivers after a new study showed the two groups make up a fraction of the workforce.

Drivers’ union Aslef said just 4.2 per cent of train drivers were female and 4.9 per cent came from ethnic minorities. It said it would press for equality laws to be applied to the rail industry.
