Alex Salmond struts his stuff in Westminster

THE 56-strong SNP contingent, all wearing bright white roses, were always going to make their mark on Westminster today.

But few could have expected the normally sober occasion of the Queen’s Speech and the state opening of Parliament to produce a swagger of the magnitude captured by this photographer today.

Alex Salmond, the former first minister and SNP MP for Gordon, is seldom short of confidence, but he surpassed himself with this Saturday Night Fever-evoking strut into the House of Lords.
